Egypt X Reader: Just one more smile

You sighed sleepily as you listened to Greece and Turkey fight again. You debated stepping between them singing 'why can't we be friends', but you didn't have the energy to do so because you were up all night, thanks to a lovely nightmare.

"_______!" You were poked, almost causing you to fall over. "_____? Geez you look like you're about to fall asleep on your feet!"  

You shook your head and looked at the country who had poked you. You glared, yes of course it had to be Turkey. "Why do you care? I thought you were having a lovers quarrel with Greece."

You were pleased with the look on Turkey's face. "We were not! We were only discussing-"

"Discussing, right" You cut in.

"Oh shut up and let me talk; we were, yes arguing happy? But it isn't the point here. I think that you don't like Egypt and Greece thinks that you do, so please prove me right."

You were caught of guard. The Egyptian was the last person you wanted to see right now.  Of course you liked Egypt, hell you could even say loved, but that nightmare, that dream. You shut your (e/c) eyes tightly as an image from the nightmare flashed at the edge of your sight.

Egypt wasn't anywhere to be found.  You looked for him, hoping to god he was alright. Then you found him, leaning against a door… like he was sleeping…

"_____?" Turkey asked.  "Are you okay? You just got very pale."

You opened your eyes and put on your best fake smile. "I-I'm just fine. I didn't get much sleep last night."  

Greece walked over to you. "You are not okay."

Your smile faded. "Look I had just watched a horror movie. Scariest thing I've ever seen."  That wasn't a complete lie; the nightmare was one of the scariest things you had ever seen.

Turkey shook his head. "I honestly don't know why you watch those if they always scare you half to death."  

"You still need to tell us who is right." Greece chimed in, bringing the subject back to Egypt.

You took a shaky breath. "Look I don't like him like that." Another lie. "I only see him as a friend."

"Oh, uh, good to know then I guess…" You, Turkey, and Greece all turned around to see the Egyptian standing not 10 feet away from where you were.

You felt your heart stop and all the color drain from you face. No, no, no, he wasn't supposed to be here when I said that! You thought.  "Egypt?" You asked, still a little shocked.

Egypt merely shook his head. "It's alright. I mean it, uh, isn't, um, like I liked you, either…" He stammered quietly.

"Oh.' You whispered, your heart seemly breaking in two.  

"Well now that we all know I'm right and Greece was wrong, I can leave." Turkey said as he started walking off.

You turned away from Egypt and the awkward scene. "Turkey!" You called after him. "You just can't leave me here alone with the crazy cat lady and weird Egyptian!"

Turkey just waved a hand at you, not saying anything in response.

Greece lightly punched your shoulder, causing you to laugh. "Sorry, Greece. I know you love cats to much, but so do I." You said in a singsong voice, smiling as if nothing was wrong. I hope they don't see that I'm about to cry… you thought.
